Heads up, sushi lovers. A report this week in the New York Times says tuna sushi bought by the newspaper and tested in October showed mercury levels exceeding amounts acceptable by the EPA. Tuna sushi was purchased from 20 Manhattan restaurants and stores but experts said they believed the same results would be found elsewhere. While this is unhealthy for any of us, it's particularly a danger to pregnant women and children, because mercury may damage developing nervous systems. For more details, read the complete story in the New York Times.
All the more reason to order my favorite, sake toro (fatty salmon), instead.
